November was pretty awesome. As usual it’s slower than the summer/earlier fall but this year it was still pretty crazy. Some favorite blog posts…

Awesome Things That Happened:

1. I photographed my LAST wedding of 2014 on the 1st.
2. I voted for Mike Michaud — sadly he lost but I was still proud to do it.
3. I saw Ira Glass live at Merrill Auditorium.
4. We walked the “Snowflake Trail” with Nate’s family — a whole bunch of farms, antique stores, bakeries, breweries, etc, took part and we got to explore lots of new places (and eat SO MUCH awesome food along the way).
5. My brand new Jacuzzi tub was installed and I was able to take my FIRST BATH IN MONTHS.
6. I taught my first ever photography class at O2 Salon in Portland.
7. I hosted a clothing swap which was SO MUCH FUN and I got some awesome new things (and got rid of way more old things).
8. We had awesome Thanksgiving celebrations with both families — one more traditional with turkey & mashed potatoes, and one less traditional with Chinese takeout and Ghost Adventures.
9. I celebrated 9 years together with my awesome husband!
10. I got an AMAZING new hair color, seen below, thanks to Tasha at O2 Salon!

Despite the fact that Nate (jokingly) refuses to acknowledge any anniversary that isn’t our wedding date, today is totally still our anniversary — the first one we ever had. On November 30th, 2005 — 9 years ago today — we started dating. We had met online — on MySpace, in fact — and had spent a week or two hanging out every single night until 5 or 6 in the morning before he “officially” asked me out.

I instantly knew there was something about him that I loved. We just “clicked”. At the time I had never met anyone from online before — hadn’t even considered it — but I had a good feeling about him. Heck, I almost backed out. We made plans to meet up for a late dinner and I was with some friends beforehand. I told them I was meeting “this guy Nate” later and that I wasn’t sure if I should or not… and, being dudes, they all said “no way, he’s probably some freak”. But when I called him he was so energetic and confident and talkative, I couldn’t resist.

He came over to my Mom’s house, where I was living at the time (and where we live together now), and I made him Chef Boyardee ravioli. We talked until the wee hours of the morning, about everything imaginable. After that we were inseparable, hanging out every possible moment we could, staying up late, driving between my Mom’s house in Portland his parents’ house in Scarborough, buying candy at gas stations, going on dates downtown. I couldn’t believe that this cute, funny, rockstar of a man (he was in a band at the time) — an OLDER man at that, he’s got 3 years on me — would be interested in my 18-year-old self. But he was, and — lucky me — still is!

Since then we’ve been on so many adventures together. From his parents’ house in Scarborough to his apartment in Portland to our apartment in Portland to our apartment in Scarborough to our house. We’ve been to Vermont, North Conway, Cincinnati, Washington DC, and Austin, as well as all over New England together. We’ve had countless fights, games of UNO, delicious meals, walks, late nights, and deep conversations. We’ve started a business, thrown parties, adopted the most beautiful puppy, and spent so much time with family. And through it all we’ve loved each other, so much.

Instagram Sunday! #1

Welcome to my first installment of INSTAGRAM SUNDAY! Anyone who knows me knows that I freaking LOVE INSTAGRAM. I feel no shame about it. As a photographer, it’s a much more casual, easy way for me to document my life without lugging my “real” camera out. My phone is on me 99% of the time so I am able to capture everything — a meal I loved, an amazing sunset, something adorable that my dog is doing, something hilarious, whatever. So every Sunday I’m going to round up some of my favorite Instagram moments of the week. Enjoy!

I stepped on a random shard of glass in the house so wore Nate's slippers for the rest of the day!

Etsy Loves! #3

Welcome to ETSY LOVES! This week’s theme is SEAHORSES. It’s no secret that I love them — heck, I have one tattooed on my body. They symbolize strength, power, patience, friendliness, and good luck. There’s also a TON of amazing items with the seahorse theme, so enjoy. 🙂

Wishlist Wednesday! #2

WOO! Welcome to WISHLIST WEDNESDAY! It seems a little bit wrong to have a blog post solely about the THINGS that I want when Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but… I’ll save my pining for world peace till then. 😉

#1 Mini Tiered Cake Pan ($18.79 on Amazon). The idea of being able to make teeny tiny cakes that look like I slaved over them, meticulously stacking the layers, with a simple pan… incredible.

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 3.12.05 PM

#2 Angel Food Scented Candle ($16 from Anthropologie). I am a sucker for candles (even though I rarely actually burn them) and angel food is HEAVENLY (see what I did there?).

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 3.15.04 PM

#3 Money Spocks Wallet ($14.99 from ModCloth). It’s no secret that I’m a massive Star Trek fan, so having the Enterprise on my wallet would be perfect.

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 3.18.07 PM

#4 Pasta Pot with Built-In Colander ($29.95 from Bialetti). We eat LOTS of pasta and having the colander built right in to the lid would be amazing. And purple because duh.

#5 colour + pattern 22 iPhone Case by Georgiana Parashiv ($35 from Society6). This is just… guh. So gorgeous.

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 3.23.36 PM

#6 Coffee Joulies ($47.96 for a set of 5 from Joulies). I drink a lot of tea and I am ALWAYS getting distracted by other things and coming back to a freezing cold mug. If these helped to keep my tea hot for longer, I would be a happy woman.

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 3.28.21 PM

#7 Third Rock Fire Pit ($1,679 from Fire Pit Art). Because some (wo)men just want to watch the world burn.

Screen Shot 2014-11-26 at 3.33.46 PM

#8 Stardust Camera Strap ($130 from Bloom Theory). I think EVERYTHING in life should have some sparkle to it.

#9 Home Alone T-Shirt ($19.99 from ChiTown Clothing). Just in time for the holidays.

#10 Holla Doormat ($50 from Reed Wilson Design). Because I’m gangster like that.

Makeup Review: Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Romantic

Screen Shot 2014-11-24 at 2.17.39 PM

I bought this stain last week on a whim — I’ve heard great things about Revlon’s lip products and was in search of a great red. The combination of a balm and a stain sounded intriguing so I picked up Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in “Romantic”, a brick red. I got it for around $6 at Rite-Aid but you can also find it at Target, Ulta, Walgreen’s, and many online retailers.  It’s like a nice, thick crayon — super smooth application and you can immediately tell it’s soft and creamy without being messy at all. It has a light minty scent which is surprisingly refreshing!

It does take quite a few coats to get it to the color that I like… but you could also swipe it across your lips once or twice for just a hint of color if you wanted. The nice thing is that, despite it being a stain, applying it isn’t scary — you don’t feel like you need to hurry up before it starts to dry or that you’re going to mess it up and have to scrub it off. I just put some on about 20 minutes ago and it still feels soft and malleable, in a good way. I don’t feel the need to put a gloss on over it, though you can for a shinier look — my lips feel soft and kissable, which is rare for me with any lipstick, let alone a stain. I’ve worn it a few times already and I’ve found that even when the product itself rubs off (which takes a while), the color is still mostly there, so that’s a big plus. I’d give it an 8/10!

Mukow Monday! #1

Screen Shot 2014-11-24 at 2.01.15 PM

I thought it was about time that my pup have her own honorary spot on this blog, so from here on out every Monday shall be MUKOW MONDAY! Basically I will just post one of the (hundreds and hundreds) of photos I have of her… either a recent photo from that week or a random pick. This one is from a couple weeks ago — she LOVES the leaves outside (which are, sadly, still covering the yard even now) and she REALLY loves her purple bone (best $3 Rite-Aid purchase I’ve ever made).
